Influence of air-fuel ratio on particle size

Because the mixture of PFI engine is basically in the theoretical air-fuel ratio, with the increase of the air-fuel ratio, the oxygen concentration in the cylinder increases, and the unburned HC as an important component of nuclear particles is less, so the quantity concentration of nuclear particles decreases. With the increase of air component and temperature in the cylinder, the oxidation rate of primary particles is higher than the formation rate, and with the decrease of HC component, the concentration of aggregated particles decreases with the increase of air-fuel ratio. Because of the influence of air-fuel ratio, the change of air-fuel ratio of GI engine has the same effect on particle size as that of PI engine.
