Recommended Posts

I am currently working on a Baja SAE buggy. for making the car compact we made our gearbox inclined, but I am slightly confused about whether the lubrication will reach to the top gear. plz check the alignment -

I think Sergio may have missed the point (or else I have). As I understand the question, the concern is lubrication of the external gear train. No oil will get to it unless you provide oil to it. The crankcase oil cannot get there.

Standard gear boxes  ie used in all mobile swing and motion control, have lubrication oil internal.  So add a  2 ports ( fill and Drain) , make sure housing is sealed,  for Baja I would go with a ISO220 gear lube  good characteristics at high temp.   Key will be gear speeds, very high gear speeds can create oil shear.  Note Noria.com is a excellent source for information on all types of lubrication.  good basic tutorials as well.
