Work required to raise Temperature in Adiabatic Process


A gas stream containing 30 wt % oxygen and 70 wt % nitrogen at 120 K and 1 atm enters a process. Determine the work required to raise the temperature to 235 K. Assume the process is adiabatic (i.e., q = 0) and the changes in potential and kinetic energy are negligible.

at Temperature - 120K

Enthalpy for Oxygen = 3480 J/gmol

Enthalpy for Nitrogen = 1625 J/gmol

at Temperature - 235K

Enthalpy for Oxygen = 6795 J/gmol

Enthalpy for Nitrogen = 2460 J/gmol
