I have a mechanical drawing for a machined component. The component is for a turbine engine and has very tight tolerances as well as GD&T requirements throughout. One of the notes states, "PART IS INSPECTED UNDER RESTRAINED CONDITION." The restraining conditions are not identified, such as calling out a datum. What is intended by the engineer when this type of restraint is called out? Does this give total freedom to the inspection lab to define the surfaces to restrain? Does this require restrained to the 3 main datums?
