Chandan Bhattacharya 0
I am building a test bench where the effectiveness of a brake will be tested at different RPMs . A motor with VFD is speede up to a set speed and then brake is applied by switching the motor off. Instead we want to use a declutching arrangement so that the motor is not stopped , only separated from driving source and brake is applied , measurements taken and then quickly the driven shaft is coupled with the motor for next braking cycle ,May be at a higher or lower RPM. What is better , Electro Magnetic Clutch or a Fluid Coupling ? Chandra N Bhattacharya.
DrD 843
The electromagnetic clutch will give quicker decoupling. It is also less messy (less plumbing required) than the fluid coupling. DrD
